Sjogren's Ab, Anti-SS-A/-SS-B

This test detects antibodies against SS-A and SS-B proteins, which are markers for autoimmune conditions—primarily Sjögren's syndrome, a disorder affecting moisture-producing glands. It's ordered when someone has symptoms like dry eyes, dry mouth, joint pain, or fatigue, or when screening for autoimmune disease.

Not particularly athlete-specific. However, undiagnosed Sjögren's can cause fatigue, joint inflammation, and reduced exercise tolerance, potentially limiting training capacity and recovery. Athletes with persistent dry mouth, eye irritation, or unexplained fatigue despite adequate rest may warrant screening to rule out underlying autoimmune conditions affecting performance.
