Blood Count Tests

Blood count tests describe the cells in your blood: red cells that carry oxygen, white cells that fight infection and platelets that clot. A complete blood count is the most ordered test in medicine because it screens for anemia, infection and many other conditions in one draw, and anemia profiles add the iron, B12 and folate context that explains a low red count. Athletes and people at altitude use these to track hemoglobin and hematocrit; everyone else uses them as a yearly baseline.
